James was born and raised in Fort Worth. After he graduated from Paschal High School, he attended The University of Texas at Austin where he received his Bachelor of Science in Radio, Television, and Film. After graduating he began working in the aviation industry where he continues to work to this day as an aircraft dispatcher. In Austin he met the love of his life, Kristen, originally from Waco, and they married in 2010. While he would have called himself a Christian his whole life, it wasn’t until after getting married that he began to take his faith seriously. He and Kristen began to attend the First Evangelical Free Church of Austin where he was baptized and where his love for Jesus and theology began to take root in his life. Oddly enough, it was during a Bible study through the book of Ezekiel where James first learned of Covenant Theology and decided that Presbyterianism was the most Biblically faithful form of church government. In God’s providence it was also around this time that his job moved he and Kristen back to Fort Worth and GCPC just so happened to be down the street from their new home. In his spare time James loves to play the guitar and piano, read theology books, listen to podcasts, and work in his yard.
